Q. I have very short hair and need advice on finding
a suitable headdress.
A. Actually it’s much easier to find a headdress that suits short hair, for a start you don’t have the hassle of trying a headdress on with your hair up and then down! Most styles will suit you but I would recommend Alice bands as the usually fit well without the need for securing. Stay away from things that are too heavy. Apart from that just have fun!
Q. How should I wear my hair?
A. There is so many styles to choose from. A hair stylist will be able to give you the best advise. It’s always a good idea to chose your headdress first and take it along with you so your stylist can experiment different ways of incorporating it into your style.
Q. How do I begin to choose a style?
A. Firstly try to picture your whole day. Decide on any themes such as cherubs, ivy or any colour as you may wish to incorporate it into your headpiece design. Secondly, have an idea if your wearing your hair up or down if you have absolutely no idea of what you looking for visit a Halo & Co stockist who will give you help and advise on selecting a style that suits you. There is a massive choice available to you from modern asymmetrical head dresses, traditional tiaras, Alice bands, crowns, clips, combs, hair ornaments, see our collection pages to assist you in selecting.
Q. How do I wear a crown?
A. A crown can be worn right at the top of your head or slightly further back. Hair can either be worn up with the crown around it or just perched as Posh Spice wore on her wedding day. Take into consideration how you wish to wear your hair as crowns come in different sizes according to design and some of the larger more elaborate ones can be quite heavy and have combs fixed either side to give security.
Q. What’s the difference between a ‘headpiece's and a ‘headdress’?
A. A headpiece is an American term, which means that the headdress and veil are attached together to form a ‘piece’. Halo & Co has a unique veil attachment system available on all designs. ‘Headdress is a European term as European styling the veil is worn slightly further back from the headpiece on a comb sometimes with the hair dressed in between.
Q. How will I know weather to have a ‘headpiece's or a ‘headdress’?
A. It’s really just about preference. A lot of people find it hard to keep combs in their hair so the idea of it being attached on to the headdress is favoured. With Halo & Co’s system it allows the veil to still be easily detached for the evening function, yet you have piece of mind it will stay secure. Also sometimes if the style of the headdress is very delicate gaps between the veil will show, this way everything is kept neatly in place. However if you’re wearing your hair up and want to say show of a head of piled up curls the veil would be better on a comb fixed low down behind your hairstyle with the headdress sitting at the front.
Q. Does one size fit all?
A. Yes! Our bands are very strong but they are also flexible and will adjust slightly to give you maximum comfort. Halo & Co has spent the last 15 years perfecting the art of headdress design, our especially designed halo bands are manufactured by us to give ultimate comfort and yet absolute security. Many of our customers comment on how comfortable they are compared to other pieces they have tried!
