1) Never be over influenced by other people. As nice as it is to get other opinions make sure that you are happy with your own choice. Take their advice on board of course, but always go with what YOU feel most comfortable in.
2) Give yourself plenty of time to choose and order your headpiece. Don’t fall into the trap of panic purchasing.
3) Take your headpiece with you to see your hair stylist.
BUT MAKE SURE THE STYLIST DOES NOT SPRAY THE TIARA WITH HAIR PRODUCTS AS TARNISHING MAY OCCUR.
4) Ignore the myth that blondes cannot wear gold headwear. Blondes can look fabulous in gold!
5) Try to decide on your hairstyle prior to selecting a headpiece. By coordinating a look your selection process will be made far easier.
6) NEVER IRON YOUR VEIL YOURSELF!
Nylon Veiling shrivels under a hot iron. Hang it up in a hot steamy bathroom or blow-dry it with a hair dryer to remove any creases.
7) Be careful in the sun! Not only because you could end up getting a red nose, but strap marks can take up to six months to vanish and look unsightly with an expensive strapless gown.
8) The best weddings are created by people who pay attention to detail!
If you can’t afford your own wedding coordinator (which joking aside is fabulous - where the end result is always a calmer family and perfectly coordinated day) then buy a multitude of magazines from bridal, fashion and hair publications. Collect ideas in a scrapbook, then list everything you are doing on the day with a picture at the side of what you want to achieve.
9) Always correctly store your wedding attire. Either in an acid free box or preferably hanging on a coat hanger in a speciality dress bag and out of direct sunlight. You should also be aware of any lingering odours in the house. This may leave your fabric with a slight smell. Most bridal shops will keep your dress for you until nearer the day. Never leave it to the day before to collect your dress. A minor traffic accident could happen causing you unnecessary stress.
10) Keep your headdress in dry conditions out of direct sunlight and preferably in an acid free box. This will help prevent tarnishing.
11) Always use a professional outlet, preferably one that’s been recommended to you. This gives you piece of mind that the retailer has adequate insurance to protect your purchase and also any deposit paid will be in safe hands.
Finally, above all make sure your section process is as enjoyable as possible!
